The Rhône is 812 km long. The “2,000” in the question did nothing but sit in front of you for a second, and that is usually enough. Tversky and Kahneman spun a rigged wheel in front of their subjects before asking what share of UN member states were African: wheel stopped on 10, median answer 25%; stopped on 65, median 45%. The number was drawn in plain sight, and it still moved the answer by twenty points (Tversky & Kahneman, 1974).
